TONINO BENACQUISTA,  LOCKDOWN Q&A, April 2020

Where you are currently living and are you needing to self-isolate in your country?

I have been at home in Paris since the start of the lockdown a month ago.

How are these surreal days influencing your normal writing process?

Nothing has changed in this regard. I have been working from home for 30 years and keep the same schedule. I am working on a manuscript started almost a year ago.

If you had to isolate yourself with one other writer, who would it be and why?

I happen to be isolated with a writer: my partner, Catherine SAUVAT. I couldn't have asked for better!

Do you have any local stories of kindness or good deeds that you can share?

Like all of France, I sit at my window at 8 p.m. every evening to applaud the nursing staff. All my neighbourhood is present, it’s a joyful and united moment

What are you currently reading for pleasure?

I only read for work, Ray Bradbury, Maupassant, and La Bruyère

Is there a local dish or comfort food that you are eating more regularly at the moment, to get you through these turbulent times?

A dish, no. But from time to time a little scotch doesn't hurt…
